A very well-used word, but do we understand it?

Kindness is core to who we are as Christians.
 
Kindness isn’t easy or simple
Easy idea. But when applied to those closest to us, much harder. 
 
How do we develop greater kindness?
 
It is part of the Spirit’s fruit. Given us by God. 
What are the qualities of kindness?
 
What does it mean to be kind?
Generosity
Consideration
Open-heartedness
Mercy
Compassion
Warmth
Concern
Friendliness
Empathy
Gentleness
Kindness has an impact
How do we express kindness?
Be open to peoples needs and how you can help
Be aware of the situation around us
Be ready to have unconditional positive regard
Look for the dignity of others
Be nice!

Politicians of christian faith
William Wilberforce: “Never, never will we desist till we have wiped away this scandal from the Christian name, released ourselves from the load of guilt, under which we at present labour, and extinguished every trace of this bloody traffic, of which our posterity, looking back to the history of these enlightened times, will scarce believe that it has been suffered to exist so long a disgrace and dishonour to this country.”
Lord Shaftesbury: “My religious views are not very popular but they are the views that have sustained and comforted me all though my life. I think a man's religion, if it is worth anything, should enter into every sphere of life, and rule his conduct in every relation.”
Personal reflection
Consider whether God is calling you to influence the political sphere.
Whatever channel God provides for you to influence society for the better, use it to the utmost to advance the cause of Christ.

“The Most Important Memory”
Luke 22.14-23
Introduction
QUESTION: What is your sweetest childhood memory?

A better future depends on a healthily remembered past

The Lord’s Supper, Luke 22.14-23
“When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfilment in the kingdom of God.” 
After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 
And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table. The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!” They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.” (Luke 22:14–23 NIV11)

Because the love of Christ is more primary than the power demonstrated in the resurrection.

Courageous Humility
“Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived, whose mother was Jewish and a believer but whose father was a Greek. The believers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him. Paul wanted to take him along on the journey, so he circumcised him because of the Jews who lived in that area, for they all knew that his father was a Greek. As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the decisions reached by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey. So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.” (Acts 16:1–5 NIV11)
